Exactly ten years ago today Andover Norton was taken over from BSA/Regal Group by the Seifert family.
This was the high point of my career as at first Norton spares dealer, then Norton importer for Germany, and then Managing Director of the last existent Norton Group PLC company that was by now fully owned by myself.
I had had the dream to take on responsibility for what I saw as a sleeping giant. Andover Norton provided manufacture and engineering backup for all the self-acclaimed "Norton Specialists" but was virtually invisible to the Norton enthusiasts, keeping an extremely low profile and letting others reap the benefits.

Ten Years on...
With the new boss having a background of dealing in Norton parts it was an all-time first for Andover Norton to be led by an owner conversant with the subject matter.
Not easy for both sides. The management team used to muddle on in traditional style- "We never did that", "They can always buy this part elsewhere", "It is all in hand (but not in stock)"- but the owner used to provide a 100% fill rate to customers' orders.
By now all customers will admit Andover Norton has improved in the last ten years. Not only have stock and turnover increased enormously, but our fill rate is second to none. The range of parts we do has about doubled, and product quality increased.
And the owners- now three young adults all riding Nortons in everyday life and on the track- are enthusiastic about the company.

Also on 1st April, but in 1977, now 40 years ago, I collected my first Commando 850Mk3 Interstate from RB Equipe, London.
At the time a student at Hamburg University after my two years in the army little did I know this was going to be the start of my career in the Norton spares world.
Even less that I was going to eventually end up as the worldwide #1 Norton parts dealer.

In our Quest to provide Norton Owners with Parts to restore back to original we have now found a Solution for those who have lost the- no longer available- original Bulbholders of their 850Mk3 Control Panel Bulbs.
For Those who still have the original Bulb with Bulbholder but whose Bulb has had it, we have sourced the Bulbs from the original Manufacturers to make a repair by soldering on a new Bulb possile.
